Newton County offers recreational activities for everyone from golf to soccer and softball to fishing and much more! Newton's Recreation Commission has fun and exciting activities for all ages. However you choose to spend your free time, you will truly love what Newton County has to offer.
The avid golfer in the family will love to spend an afternoon on either one of Newton County's two golf courses: The Oaks Golf Course or Indian Creek Golf Club. One can also get some practice in at the Golf Training Center Driving Range or the By-Pass Driving Range or at our par three executive course, Windy Hill Golf Course.
Newton County offers a total of 14 recreational parks. For nature lovers, we are home to both the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center and the Georgia Wildlife Federation. Each offer extensive outdoor activities including hiking, bird watching and many educational opportunities. Charlie Elliot is also home to the Marben Public Fishing Area and Clybel Wildlife Management Area that provides hunting, a shooting range, an archery trail, camping and nature trails.
The Turner Lake Complex, located on 158 acres of mature hardwood and home to the Newton County Recreation Commission, brings together serene nature trails and a peaceful lake with state-of-the-art softball facilities, a recreational league football field, two basketball courts in a fabulous gym with a walking track.
Other recreational opportunities can be found at the Covington Family YMCA and at one of our 14 beautiful parks managed by the Newton County Recreation Commission.

Original nine holes designed by Bobby Jones, The Oaks
was named in the top fifty new public courses in 1993.
The Oaks offers Bent grass greens, full tournament facilities,
