Newton County School System
The Newton County School System serves the entire county including the five municipalities located within the county. The 18 schools are organized into:
- Eleven elementary schools (Pre-K through 5th grade)
- Four middle schools (6th through 8th grade)
- Two high schools (9th through 12th grade)
- One alternative school (7th through 12th grade)
More than 13,700 students are enrolled in Newton County Schools this year.
Over the last eight years, eight new schools and 57 additional classrooms have been constructed. During that time period, massive renovations have been made to our existing schools. The school system has also constructed a new Board of Education building and a Service Center to house the maintenance, warehouse and transportation departments at one central location.
Newton County residents are proud of their growing school system. Over the last six years, improvements have been made on standardized achievement tests. The average SAT score has topped the state and national average for the past four years while the dropout rate has been reduced to well below the state average.
All Newton County schools meet the standards of the Georgia Department of Education and are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Newton County students are recognized at the state and national level for excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and extra-curricular activities. All schools offer a wide array of programs, including services for both academically gifted students and students with disabilities.
